Women's Tennis Remains Undefeated in Spring Play

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team remains undefeated in their spring season after defeating Averett University 6-3.

Rachel Christensen and Audrey McBride were defeated at the No. 1 position 8-1 by the Cougars Heidi Sarkkinen and Hannah Motson. The Knights' No. 2 and 3 doubles teams secured two points for the Knights to give the Knights the advantage going into the singles competition.

No. 6 Makaela Adamson was the first to finish with a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory over Tyler Goad. Natalie Teets Tetterton and Lauren Morrison also defeated their opponents in straight sets, dropping only one game between the two.

Audrey McBride, a sophomore from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, battled back after falling in the first set 6-2 to take the remaining sets 6-2 and 11-9 in a tiebreak third.

The Knights will hit the road to take on Capital Athletic Conference opponents Frostburg State and Christopher Newport on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
