FROSTBURG, Md.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team earned its sixth straight victory heading into postseason play, 8-1, over Frostburg State University at The Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center in Frostburg, Maryland.
The Knights swept the Bobcats in doubles play to pick up an early 3-0 lead. Lindee Christensen and Elizabeth Fuchs defeated Kayla Kirk and Kaitlin Lemmert by an 8-5 score. Rachel Christensen and Micah Roberts topped Ashley Smith and Jessic McCants by an 8-2 count. Ann Kuroki and Kari Stollenwerk trumped Kumba Sankoh and Meliene Yoa, 8-0.
In singles action, Rachel Christensen beat Kayla Kirk by a 6-3, 6-2 count. Lindee Christensen fell after a tough 6-3, 4-6 7-6 (10-8) match. Elizabeth Fuchs beat Ashley Smith, 6-2, 6-1. Micah Roberts swept Sara Hildebrand 6-0, 6-0. Ann Kuroki defeated Jessica McCants by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Kari Stollenwerk trumped Kumba Sankoh by a 6-0, 6-0 count.
The Knights are seeded fifth in the Capital Athletic Conference and will compete against St. Mary's College of Maryland in in the first round of the CAC tournament. The match is scheduled for Saturday April 18 in St. Mary's, Maryland.
