Women's Tennis Overcome by Shenandoah University

BUENA VISTA, Va.— The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team fell, 6-3, on the road to Shenandoah University Wednesday afternoon at the Lowery Tennis Courts in Winchester, Virginia. 

In doubles play, Shannon Allin and Molly Barb of Shenandoah defeated Elizabeth Fuchs and Lindee Christensen by an 8-3 score. Rachel Christensen and Micah Roberts of Southern Virginia teamed up to defeat Amber Lake and Janella Williams by a 9-7 score. Kari Stollenwerk and Ann Kuroki lost, 8-1, to Hornets Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton. 

In singles action the Knights picked up two points. In No. 1 singles Molly Barb of Shenandoah defeated Elizabeth Fuchs by a 6-2, 6-4 score. Knight Lindee Christensen fell to Shannon Allin by a 6-0,6-4 score. Rachel Christensen earned a 6-2, 6-0 win for the Knights over Janella Williams in the No. 3 spot. Micah Roberts suffered a 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) loss to Amy Rapp of Shenandoah. Kari Stollenwerk was overcome, 6-0, 6-0, by Caitlin Tilton in the No. 5 spot for the Knights. Ann Kuroki picked up a third point for the Knights by default.

The Knights will continue non-league play as they hit the road to face Hollins University for its third contest this week. The match is scheduled for Thursday March 19 at 3 p.m. at The Batten Tennis Courts in Roanoke, Va.
