BUENA VISTA, Va.—In its final match of the 2014 season, the Southern Virginia University women's tennis team fell to visiting Frostburg State University by a close 5-4 score Wednesday afternoon at The Fields in Buena Vista, Va.
In doubles competition, Katelynn Tlustek and Shannon Romito were the lone victors for the Knights, defeating their opponents, 8-5. Kirsten Laurence and Micah Roberts fell at the No. 1 spot, 8-3, while Kari Stollenwerk and Anna Evans dropped their match, 8-3, at No. 2.
In singles play, Southern Virginia split the six matches. Tlustek came away with a close victory, beating Frostburg's Kennedy Logsdon 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Stollenwerk and Katie Durrant also were victorious for the Knights, winning in straight sets by 6-0 scores. Laurence, Roberts and Evans all fell to their Bobcat opponents.
With the defeat, Southern Virginia finished the season with a 7-13 record while the Bobcats improved to 3-11.
