Knights Women's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight with Convincing 21-15 Victory Against Lions

DEMOREST, GA. — Southern Virginia's women's lacrosse team earned an impressive 21-15 win over Piedmont in a high-scoring match on Thursday. The Knights put on a show, dominating every aspect of the game and finishing with a commanding victory.

The Knights got off to a quick start in the first quarter, with Rylee Webster scoring the first goal unassisted. Addison England followed suit with back-to-back goals, one unassisted and one assisted by Alissa Johnson. Piedmont's Clara Welch answered back, scoring the team's first goal, assisted by Laura Crone, and then Lindley Ward put the Lions within one goal with another goal, assisted by Merryn Bumpass.

In the second quarter, Southern Virginia continued to pull away with goals from Tyler John, Addison England, Piper Searle, and Alissa Johnson, who scored three goals at the end of the quarter, two of which were assisted by Kate Richards and McKayla Martin, respectively. Merryn Bumpass added one goal for Piedmont, but Kiah Baisden's goal on an up-man advantage put the Knights up 12-5 at the end of the second.

In the third quarter, Southern Virginia kept up the momentum with goals from Tyler John and Alissa Johnson. However, Piedmont mounted a comeback with goals from Ava Trankina, Lovette Choloh, and Clara Welch, who scored twice. Merryn Bumpass added her second goal of the game, while Alissa Johnson scored again for Southern Virginia.

In the fourth period, Piedmont scored three more goals, but Southern Virginia's Roxy LeBaron and Piper Searle answered back with two goals, while Alissa Johnson added two more to her already impressive total, bringing her final tally to seven goals. Aly Reece and Lovette Choloh also scored for Piedmont, but it was not enough to overcome Southern Virginia's lead.

Overall, Southern Virginia displayed impressive offensive prowess, and the team's defense held strong throughout the game. The Knights will look to build on this momentum in their next match, while Piedmont will aim to rebound from this loss.
