Jessica Casperson

Coach Jessica Casperson is entering her third competitive season as Head Women’s
Wrestling Coach at Southern Virginia University.A pioneer in women’s wrestling for over 30
years, she previously served as SVU’s Men’s Assistant Wrestling Coach and launched the
university’s women’s wrestling program.

In her inaugural 2023–24 season, Casperson led the Lady Knights to exceed
expectations—finishing in the top 10 at regionals against D1, D2, and D3 programs, earning
three individual placers and three Scholar All-American honors. The following season, she
coached SVU to its first home women’s dual win, two regional placers, and eight NWCA Scholar
All-Americans.

Before her current role, Casperson helped the men’s team produce a national qualifier and
All-American, and was instrumental in developing the women’s wrestling club, coaching SVU’s
first NCWA All-American.

A trailblazer since her youth, Casperson was the only female on her high school team,
becoming a two-time PA state champion and three-time USGWA National All-American. She
wrestled collegiately at Missouri Valley College, training alongside an Olympian and world team
members while earning a double major in Mass Communications and English.

Beyond SVU, Casperson leads a community youth league, assists with the VA National
Team—contributing to Fargo All-Americans, a 2024 Beach Wrestling National Champion team
and a 2025 Fargo National Champion—and serves on the NWCA Women’s Ranking Committee
and Leadership Group. As well as mentors those involved in wrestling.

Her greatest joy is her family—her husband of over 20 years and their six children—with whom she shares a mission to serve and uplift others.
