Jeramie Murray enters his fourth season at Southern Virginia. The 2025 season saw Murray contribute to the continued success of the Knight Track and Field program. Both the men’s and women’s teams won indoor conference titles and the women won their fourth straight USA South conference championship during the outdoor season. Student-athletes he coached achieved 23 all- conference nominations, 6 individual USA South conference championships, 5 conference records, and two All-Region certifications (Jayton Hall and Marin Simons). Additionally, Marin Simons earned an All-American finish in the high jump, becoming the first Knight female track and field athlete to score at the NCAA national championships.

During the 2025 season his student-athletes also set 10 school records including Damarion Bonds in the indoor and outdoor triple jump, Zeke Newman indoor 300 meters, and Jalen Williams 100 meters. Folole Torres set records in the 300 meters, 60-hurdles and 100-hurdles as part of phenomenal season that saw her also win 3 conference titles and set two conference records. Not to be outdone several high jumpers joined the record books with Jayton Hall setting a new indoor mark of 2.01 meters, and Mikki Prows and Marin Simons both setting a new indoor mark of 1.60 meters. Simons would go on to establish a new outdoor record of 1.69 meters as part of her All-American season.

The 2024 season saw the Knights again sweep the USA South Men's and Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field team titles. Murray's contributions to those team titles included 9 USA South Conference champions, 4 Conference meet records, 35 All-Conference selections and 6 school records. Indoor highlights included Conference titles from Andre Lucas in the high jump, Riley Heward 60-meter hurdles and the Women's 4x400 meter relay. Elyssa Holman also won the conference title in the high Jump on her way to being named USA South Indoor field event newcomer of the year.

The success continued outdoors with conference titles from Folole Torres in the 400-meter hurdles, Shandrey Allman in the 100-meter hurdles, the Women's 4x400 meter relay, Jocelyn Baker in the high jump helping her be named the USA South Outdoor field event newcomer of the year, and Jayton Hall in the high jump. Hall would also go on to be named All-Region in that event. The highlight of the year came at the Liberty Twilight meet when the Women's 4x400 meter relay team of Tessa Miller, Savanna Chapin, Folole Torres and Addie Parker ran 4:00.00 to break their own school record.

During Murray's first season in 2023, student-athletes under his charge, set 11 school records, accounted for 11 conference titles and garnered 26 USA South All-Conference selections. His athletes also set two USA South Conference indoor meet records and four USA South Conference outdoor meet records including both the Men’s and Women’s 4x400 meter relays. Murray also contributed to all four of the Men’s and Women’s USA South conference titles during the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Additionally, Murray helped Coach Ainsley Lau who was named the USA South Conference field event newcomer of the year. Both Aaron Leavitt and Daniel De La Cruz were named all Region after both finished the season ranked first in the region in the 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles respectively. Finally, De La Cruz capped the year by qualifying for the NCAA Championship meet in the 400-meter hurdles.

Before arriving at Southern Virginia, Murray spent six seasons at Utah State University, where his student-athletes combined for two All-America honors, four Mountain West titles and 38 All-Conference accolades under his tutelage. 2017 proved to be a banner year for the Aggie sprinters as AJ Boully won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.58 at the prestigious Texas Relays and later set a Mountain West meet record of 49.48 in the same event. Not to be outdone, the 4x400 meter relay team garnered several outstanding victories on the season, winning the Tyson Invitational Open division in 3:07.23 to set an indoor school record while also winning the Texas Relays University/College division in 3:06.72. The team of Boully, Joshua Gordon, Brady Martin and Michael Bluth also set a Mountain West meet record with a winning time of 3:05.53 at the outdoor championships.

Prior to his time at Utah State, Murray spent 15 seasons coaching at his Alma Mater, Southern Utah University. During his time with the Thunderbirds, Murray mentored 112 All-Conference student-athletes, 66 individual conference champions, three newcomers of the year, four conference athletes of the year, and four All-Americans. Additionally, he assisted in 39 conference team titles and in 2009, his athletes set a Summit League meet record in the Men's 4x400 meter relay.

Murray was a four-year letter-winner (1991-1996) and two-time all-conference honoree as a sprinter for the Thunderbirds. He graduated from SUU with a degree in Physical Education and later earned two graduate degrees from SUU in Education and Sports Conditioning/Performance.

Murray, a USATF level II certified coach, and his wife, Heather, currently reside in Lexington with their son Ronan.Â
