Jamie Chandler joined the Southern Virginia University Cross Country and Track & Field coaching staff in 2019 and has served as Recruiting Coordinator, Director of Operations, Coach of Vertical Jumps, and Assistant Coach for Jumps and Distance. In addition to her coaching and administrative duties, Jamie currently serves as Assistant Provost and Director of Accessibility Services.
As lead Vertical Jumps coach, she has coached athletes to numerous conference championships and conference meet record marks. Her highest men’s high jump squad ranked #13 in the U.S., and her highest women’s high jump squad ranked #37. Coach Jamie has helped 15 men and women high jumpers to top three finishes at conference meets, with three different athletes earning four conference championship titles, four meet records, and one all-time performance record.
While assisting BYU All-American Pole Vaulter and former Southern Virginia Pole Vault coach Victor Weirich, Coach Jamie helped the women’s Pole Vault quartet sweep the top four places at the 2023 USA South outdoor conference championship and helped the men place 4 in the top 6, including the conference champion.
During her tenure, three different men and women pole vaulters under her assistance earned a combined four conference titles and two meet records. Eight different men and women have finished in the top three 12 times!
Jamie has coached youth through collegiate-level athletes and has completed USATF Level II in Jumps. She previously served as the Youth Chair in Arkansas for USATF, administering state and regional championships, and currently is the Vice President of Sales and Operations for Agee Race Timing.
Jamie enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with her family when not working. She has a BA in Sociology and Special Education and an MA in Special Education: Emphasis in Affective Needs, both from the University of Northern Colorado.
