Chester, Pa. – Just days after graduation, the Southern Virginia University outdoor track and field team continued to build momentum, posting national-qualifying marks at the 2025 Widener Final Qualifier.
On the men's side, Jayton Hall was the Knights' lone competitor. He finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.94 meters, adding a solid performance to cap off his season.
The women's team saw multiple strong finishes. Bayleigh Redd took on the 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking a time of 11:28.60 for 13th place in a highly competitive field.
In the high jump, Marin Simons and Mikki Prows led the way with standout performances. Simons tied for second place with a clearance of 1.63 meters, while Prows earned seventh with a jump of 1.48 meters.
Jilane Pedersen added to the Knights' success with a third-place finish in the javelin, recording a throw of 33.75 meters.
The highlight of the meet came from Heidi Barton, who delivered a season-best time of 2:09 in the 800 meters—a performance expected to qualify her for the NCAA National Championships.
With strong individual showings and national aspirations coming into focus, Southern Virginia's track and field team continues to push forward on the national stage.
