Southern Virginia Men’s Cross Country Captures Second At USA South Championship

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Southern Virginia University men's cross country team wrapped up competition at the 2025 USA South Championship with a second place finish.

Taylor Weiland once again led the Knights and was the second fastest freshman to complete the 8K course. His time of 26:12 is a personal best and helped him finish 7th.

Gary Rogers joined his teammate on the All-Conference Second Team, running a massive personal best of 26:51 to finish his day in 10th. Joseph Hughes was the third Knight to garner all-conference recognition, crossing the line in 13th.

Truman Meyer snatched a personal best for a second straight meet, and Carter Johnson was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team after the meet.

Pfeiffer won the team championship for a second consecutive season after claiming the top six individual spots.

Looking Ahead

The team looks to produce at least one more big performance at the South Regional Championship on Saturday, November 15th at Green Hill Park Salem. 

Their best team showing at the regional meet was a fifth place finish in 2023.
