Buena Vista, Va. — Hosting the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament after receiving the number one seed, the Southern Virginia University Women's Basketball team took on William Peace University Tuesday night. The Knights' first-quarter surge guided and paved the path to a dominant 115-42 victory, setting a new program record for the largest margin of victory in a game.
Southern Virginia's offensive output was represented by 13 different point scorers led by
Ruth Kempler with 18,
Aysia Foster with 14, and
Emma Camden with 13.
Abigail Snyder showed her dominance defensively with 13 rebounds and two steals, narrowly missing the double-double with nine points.
The Knights had their best quarter in the first, coming out hot and shooting 71.43 percent from the field and 75 percent from behind the three-point arc.
Southern Virginia's bench had their best night, scoring 60 of the team's total points, led by Kempler's 18 and
Camilla Norton's seven points and five rebounds.
Remaining home for the Semifinal Game, Southern Virginia awaits Brevard College in Knight Arena on Thursday, February 22. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
