BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team put on an impressive performance, defeating William Peace University 15-7 at home. The Knights were unstoppable on offense, with multiple players contributing to the victory.
The game began with a commanding display by Southern Virginia as they surged ahead with a 5-0 lead in the first quarter.
Eric Norr and
Gabe King led the charge, each scoring two goals, with
Sterling Thatcher adding another. William Peace University found a response through William English, who scored an unassisted goal, but the Knights continued their dominance with
Gabe King scoring his third goal of the match.
Eric Norr then scored his second goal of the game, assisted by
Gabe King, taking the score to 7-1.
The second quarter saw the Pacers gain some momentum, scoring two goals through Riley Murray and Devin Noonan, but Southern Virginia remained calm and focused, with
Zak Sullivan and
Sterling Thatcher scoring a goal each to maintain their lead at 9-3 going into halftime.
The Knights continued their excellent form in the third quarter, with
JT Cutrer,
Jaydon Arnold, and
Eric Norr adding to the scoreline. However, William Peace fought back with goals from William Murray, Tristan Carter, and Jack Barbee, reducing the deficit to 12-6.
In the final quarter,
Peyton Merwin,
Eric Norr, and
Gannon Liles scored for Southern Virginia, ensuring the victory, while Brewer Warlick added a consolation goal for William Peace, ending the match with a scoreline of 15-7 in Southern Virginia's favor.
