No. 10 Knights Extend Win Streak to Eight, Sweep Marymount

BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team defeated Marymount University 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

The Knights (11-1, 6-0 CVC) defeated the Saints (6-7, 4-1 CVC) in the first set in extra points, 28-26. Southern Virginia recorded 12 kills in the opening game on a .250 hitting percentage.

In the second, the Knights were able to pull away from Marymount taking the game 25-20 without much resistance.

Game three, like game one, was close the whole way through. The Knights had a match point 25-24 but were not able to convert. The Saints were then able to win the next point, earning a set point of their own. At that point, Southern Virginia came up with some big shots, earning three straight points to win the set 29-27 and the match 3-0.

Nahuel Recabarren was the leading attacker for the Knights with 14 kills on a .435 hitting percentage. Cougar Clark also had double-digit kills for Southern Virginia with 11. Setter, Kaipo Tagaloa also had a solid outing for the Knights as he dished out 37 assists and added five digs.

Southern Virginia will look to extend their win streak as they'll stay at home to face-off against Neumann University on the 1st of March at 7 p.m.
